Smart Master Page Import API

This program has been designed to copy the graphic elements on master pages from the template file you choose into your document.

What the API does

It is important to note the difference between this API and choosing import page layouts from the file menu. Some differences include:

This API will copy page background elements only. More specifically, it will only copy text columns that do not have a text flow ID. If you are on a body page you can't type into a text flow for which there is no text flow ID.
This API will copy graphical elements such as bit maps, but it will NOT copy horizontal lines which occur outside heading or footing areas.
This API does not update master page variables with values contained in the template you choose unlike FrameMaker's master page import.
This API does not reset the body page text column layouts to agree with the master pages of the document unlike FrameMaker's master page import.

Note: There is a batch version of this API which is used in conjunction with one time mass changes.

Invoking the API

The smart master page import API is invoked by choosing Update Template from the Special menu.

A dialog box will appear. To apply a template, use the file browser to locate the template you wish to use.
