SII performs high technology projects where the special talents of the SII staff can be applied to a set of unique requirements. These relationships tend to be with emerging high technology companies looking to have available high livels of systems expertise in hardware and software.
Document Production Automation
SII has had particular success architecturing document production systems. Often material must be integrated from a number of sources and then distributed in several different formats, such as paper, PostScript, PDF, HTML, CD-ROM, etc. Tools must be set up to interface with eachother in an efficient manner to improve the document production process, which often involves designing your own bridging tools or routines that allow documents to move seamlessly from one program to another or from one process to another.

In addition to a number of commercially marketed Filters, SII also develops custom filters for specific applications.

Automation
With our help, a major amusement park was completely automated. We networked 300 stations hubbed by a UNIX based server. Network stations included IBM PCs, ASCII terminals, and cash registers. We were also responsible for the selection of the various software applications installed on the network.

We developed a stock trading system which operates on SUN Microsystems computers under UNIX. We were also responsible for the selection of the various software applications installed on the network.

This project involved extensive use of various communication techniques including TCP/IP, 3270 terminal emulation, LU6.2. Components of systems run on a variety of platforms located all over the state of California which were networked together to provide real-time design capabilities.
